As the new year rolled in, event holders were optimistic that COVID-19 would be on its way out around fall. VidCon was confident it could schedule its 11th VidCon this October. However, with COVID-19 is experiencing a resurgence in cases, VidCon today decided it’s too risky to hold a convention this year.
This is the second convention VidCon has had to cancel. It canceled its scheduled event last year, which would have run from June 17-20. Sadly, even after waiting over a year, participants and attendees will have to wait nearly another for the next event, slated for June 22 – 25, 2022, at the Anaheim Convention Center.
VidCon offers refunds to those who purchased tickets
Right now, VidCon is offering refunds for a limited time. For orders not containing a single-day ticket for the October convention, you can request a full refund until June 3, 2022. If you don’t refund the ticket, it will automatically roll over for the planned event next year. All orders containing single-day tickets will be refunded in full by September 3, 2021. VidCon will refund the money to the original card used to purchase the ticket. If your banking information has changed, it’s best to reach out to your bank and let them know to redirect the funds to the correct account.
Those who purchased the On Demand tickets to the event will now gain access to the stream in July of 2022.
The next VidCon will be different
Even though VidCon rescheduled the October event, the event won’t be the same as planned. Since creators and industry experts have their own busy schedules, the June convention will not feature everyone promised in October. The updated lineup and the event’s planned content will be announced soon.
