Spotify revealed several new creator and podcast-focused tools during its 2026 Investor Day presentation, including subscription-style memberships and AI-generated “Personal Podcasts” tailored to individual listeners.

During the event, Spotify announced a new Memberships system that will allow eligible podcast creators to offer paid subscriber experiences directly through the platform. The company says the feature is designed to help creators build recurring revenue while maintaining direct access to their audiences.

According to Spotify, creators using Memberships will be able to offer exclusive episodes, bonus content and subscriber-only experiences within the app. The system will also include audience analytics and tools that allow creators to import or export subscriber relationships across different services.

Spotify stated that the feature will first launch with select creators before expanding more broadly later on.

“Personal Podcasts” introduce AI-generated audio

Alongside creator memberships, Spotify also revealed a feature called “Personal Podcasts,” which uses AI to generate private audio episodes based on a user’s interests, listening habits and prompts.

Users will be able to request custom podcast-style audio covering topics such as news summaries, niche interests or personalized briefings. Spotify says these generated episodes can also incorporate outside material, including uploaded links or documents, depending on the prompt.

The feature is expected to roll out to eligible Premium users in the United States first, with monthly usage credits included as part of the system. Additional credits may eventually require separate purchases.

Spotify also introduced other creator and personalization features during the event, including interactive podcast Q&A tools, AI-assisted remix systems tied to a partnership with Universal Music Group, and new discovery tools for audiobooks and fitness content.

The company described the overall strategy as part of a transition from traditional curation and recommendation systems toward more generated and interactive media experiences.
