Michael “Shroud” Grzesiek recently announced his return to Twitch after Mixer was shut down. His return was met with much excitement and enthusiasm.
Shroud is one of the most popular live streamers in the world, so his return to Twitch was expected to be huge. Those expectations were met, bringing in nearly 500,000 active viewers in his comeback stream. Not only that, he reached those numbers even before he started streaming. Many of the viewers were just watching the “starting soon” message on his stream. In just a few minutes past 3 PM (which he started streaming at 2:50 PM ET), he surpassed half a million active viewers.
Shroud was a little late to his comeback stream
While his stream was a huge success, it didn’t come without a few setbacks. Shroud was late to his stream. He said his lateness was due to technical difficulties. He also said that it’s a common issue with his stream. According to him, it happens often enough that it’s become an inside joke among his community. He did say that the end result of apparent bit rate and audio issues was that his stream might remain capped at 20p.
However, Shroud was able to recover and have a great stream. He played Riot’s new tactical shooter Valorant. This segment maintained about 400,000 and 475,000 active viewers. He has a hygge presence in the game’s community, making up more than 80 percent of the viewership of Valorant.
Since Mixer shutdown, Shroud has spent more than a month not streaming. Just recently, he announced that he would come back to Twitch, after signing an exclusive deal with the platform.
