Threads has released a number of new changes. The new features are targeted to improve user experience and support brand accounts.

Meta introduces multiple drafts and insights

The option to save multiple drafts is one of the features that will be useful to a lot of users. Threads used to limit users to one draft, but now each account can save up to 100 drafts. “This will make content creation more flexible for users,” said Mark Zuckerberg, Meta’s CEO.

Customization for desktop users

There’s also a big update for PC users as they can now reorganize the pinned columns on their homepage in Threads. Originally released in May, this feature offered a multi-column display similar to TweetDeck, allowing users to pin material such as liked articles, searches and other items.

These columns can now be rearranged by users, but the “For You” column stays in place. Over the past few weeks, these updates have been progressively made available to a small group of users.

Insights for brand accounts

A new Insights panel has been added to Threads in addition to these changes. This tool offers demographic data, such as age, gender and location, about the audience interacting with content. It also separates followers from non-followers based on overall views and interactions.

It’s expected that marketers and brands aiming to gain a deeper understanding of their target demographic would find this data especially useful. “We’re focused on giving brands the tools they need to succeed on Threads,” a Meta spokesperson commented.

Scheduled posts and beyond

More future features, such as the ability to create plan posts — a function that many brands have been excitedly anticipating — were also hinted by Meta. As Threads commemorates the first anniversary of the introduction of its web version in August 2023, new tools and features have been added.

Meta hopes that these upgrades will draw in additional users — some of whom might not be happy with X. Though it still lags behind X’s 600 million users, Threads has achieved a noteworthy milestone with over 200 million monthly active users.
