Newsletter platform beehiiv is expanding into podcasting, adding native tools that let creators host, distribute and monetize audio shows directly through the service. The update adds another format to beehiiv’s growing creator toolkit as competition intensifies among companies trying to become all-in-one publishing hubs.

Creators using beehiiv will be able to publish podcast episodes, distribute them across major listening platforms and manage related subscriber experiences in the same place they already run newsletters and websites. The rollout also includes podcast-specific analytics and monetization features.

beehiiv is leaning into bundled creator tools

One of the bigger selling points appears to be consolidation. beehiiv CEO Tyler Denk said the company sees strong overlap between newsletters and podcasts, especially for creators building direct audience relationships through subscriptions and sponsorships. Beehiiv is treating podcasts as an extension of that model rather than a standalone product.

Creators will also be able to bundle podcast access into existing paid subscriptions, including private feeds and premium audio content. That gives newsletter publishers another way to package membership perks without relying on a separate audio platform.

A competitive play against Patreon and Substack

The expansion also puts beehiiv in more direct competition with Patreon and Substack, both of which already support podcast publishing. One notable difference is beehiiv’s revenue model, the company says it does not take a cut of creator earnings from hosted podcasts, instead leaning on its broader software and monetization ecosystem.

As more creator companies push into multiple formats at once, beehiiv’s podcast push means businesses are no longer just competing for newsletters, videos or podcasts individually. They are competing to become the central infrastructure behind a creator’s entire business.
