Adobe has launched its Firefly Video Model in public beta, offering creators innovative tools to generate videos from text prompts or images. This release is accessible through the redesigned Firefly web app.

Key features

Users can create 1080p videos up to five seconds long using text descriptions or reference images. Adobe plans to enhance these capabilities with faster processing and 4K support in the future. The Firefly web app now integrates with Adobe’s Creative Cloud, allowing seamless transfer of AI-generated assets for commercial use. Firefly’s content is trained on public domain and licensed material, reducing copyright concerns and making it suitable for brands and creative professionals.

Additionally, Firefly offers features like adjusting camera angles and atmospheric components. This should provide creators with more control over their video content. The model also supports the generation of atmospheric elements such as fire, smoke, dust particles, and water, which can be layered over existing content using Adobe’s tools like Adobe Premiere Pro and Adobe After Effects.

Subscription Plans

Adobe has introduced new subscription tiers for Firefly:

  • Standard: $9.99 per month

  • Pro: $29.99 per month

These plans offer varying levels of access to video and audio credits.

The AI industry

Adobe’s Firefly Video Model enters a competitive market and faces tools like OpenAI’s Sora and Google’s Veo. However, its focus on intellectual property rights and integration with Creative Cloud applications could position it as a strong contender in the creator economy.

As the public beta progresses, Adobe aims to refine Firefly’s features, offering creators more efficient and innovative ways to produce video content.
