Adobe will release a new Premiere app for iPhone on September 30, bringing professional video editing tools to mobile users. The app includes a full multi-track timeline, unlimited audio and video layers, frame-by-frame editing and 4K HDR support. An Android version is in development, but Adobe has not announced a launch date yet.
Features and AI support
The iPhone app allows users to edit projects with tools similar to those in Premiere Pro on desktop. It also integrates Adobe Firefly, enabling creators to generate images, sounds and video assets using generative AI. Additional features include speech enhancement, automatic captioning, Adobe Fonts, stock media and Lightroom presets. Creative Cloud subscribers will have access to AI credits and expanded storage.
The app will be free to download from the App Store, with no ads or watermarks. Premium features and additional AI tools will be offered through in-app purchases. It is compatible with iPhone 12 and newer models running iOS 17 or later. Android users are expected to get access after the iOS release, though Adobe has not provided a timeline.
The release places Adobe into direct competition with existing mobile editing tools such as CapCut, LumaFusion and Final Cut Pro for iPad. Analysts say the move could attract creators who want more advanced tools on mobile devices, while some note that restricting certain AI features to paid plans may limit access for smaller creators. Adobe has also emphasized that projects will sync with Premiere Pro on desktop, enabling cross-device workflows.
